Travelled from Toronto to LA and first off both airports were exceptional when it came to helping with my friend who is 82 and needed a wheelchair. Took some time to adjust to the 3 hour time difference but we flew into LA one day early.
We stayed at the Best Western in Long Beach and rate that hotel as excellent. They did have a free breakfast and a shuttle to the cruise ship.
Carnival sent us an email and phoned us that our embarkation time of 12:30 would be delayed 1 hour. It turned out that this was the official opening of the new terminal and press and TV were expected. However it also turned out that everything went smoothly and we found ourselves on board in record time. We had to vacate the hotel and thought we'd end up standing around at the terminal but that was not the case. We were having lunch before 1 p.m. Debarking was just as efficient as embarkation so hats off to Carnival for that.
Cabin Review
Interior
They asked me the cabin category and I actually have no idea but we did pay to upgrade to an interior on Lido deck and we did enjoy being on this deck. The cabin itself is very small of course with one chair for the two of us. We were not asked if we wanted turn down both morning and evening and were surprised the 2nd night when it was not done. The morning turn down even became the noon turn down some days even though we had asked for the room to be made up early. There were no signs to hang on the door 'snoozin' if we wanted a nap or to indicate the room could be done. The air was turned off or down through the night and we work up every night just drenched in sweat and finding it hard to breath. Around 6 a.m. we could feel the air start circulating again.
