My family was suppose to cruise on the Adventure of the Sea but it was cancelled because it was going to be renovated. We decided to go on Jewel of the Sea during the same time frame. Well then the hurricanes happened and we changed our trip to a Western Caribbean cruise with the Rhapsody of the Sea. The Rhapsody of the Sea is very limited with on board activities. It is diffidently a cruise with more older folks. Even though it had an older crowd, our teenage boys had a great time with the teen activities or hanging out with the other teens on the ship. We did have a great time but the next cruise we take will be on a bigger ship. The crew was exceptional!!! We were in a family large ocean view cabin, 2532. The cabin had an extra small room with bunk beds with a curtain that separated it from the main cabin. It offered more privacy for everyone. The port of calls were good except for Costa Maya. We went deep sea fishing in Grand Cayman. Secret River tour at Cozumel. Belize City, we went snorkeling at a reef and to a private island. All of these activities were AWESOME!!! But the bad thing with them is that we didn't have much time to see the other sites. We were very disappointed with Costa Maya. Our shore excursion was cancelled for some reason so we decided to explore on our own. The port is nice if you like jewelry or knick knack shopping. We took a $3 ride to the beach. Right outside of the port there is nothing. You can't walk to anything. The beach we went to was okay. The terrible thing with it was all the vendors that came up to you wanting to sell you stuff. We were lucky if we had 5 minutes between people coming up to us. They were not aggressive though when you said no.

Family Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin FO

Great room!! The small room with bunks beds for my 13 and 15 year old boys were great. It gave everyone more privacy. Also, we weren't tripping over each other. If the boys are traveling with us again, I will be booking this type of cabin again.

Port Reviews

Belize City

We were suppose to go on the Shark & Stingray Encounter snorkel but it was cancelled because not enough people signed up for it. Very disappointed with that but what can you do. After that was cancelled we took the Barrier Reef snorkel and private island excursion. We had a wonder time doing this. The snorkeling was great. The island was great. The boat on the way back became a party boat. What fun!!!!!

Costa Maya

I would have gone elsewhere other than Costa Maya. This place does not offer much outside of the port. The beach wasn't even very relaxing because of all vendors trying to get you to buy things.

Tampa

We flew in a day early and stayed at a airport hotel. The trip by Uber went great from the hotel to the port the next day went great.
