I chose this cruise for the opportunity to pass Cape Horn and visit the Falkland Islands during the Southern Summer. I was very fortunate to enjoy lovely days at Port Stanley and up the coast of Argentina. The excursions I chose were quite expensive, but worthwhile; but it was frustrating to spend only one day at Puerto Madryn, with so many wildlife excursions to choose from, and then spend a day in Montevideo, which was uninteresting ( the Old Town was litter-bestrewn and semi-derelict ).

The flights from Britain are the longest direct ones BA offers; It is certainly worth up-grading if you can. On arrival at Santiago, I could not find a Princess representative, and had a 30-minute panic before one turned up.

The ship had little to commend it to a cultured Englishman such as I like to think I am! Apart from the Port lecturer, the only series of talks was about Murders; the history and geography of South America are fascinating, but neglected. I did not attend the evening entertainment and therefore cannot comment on it, and the weather was not conducive to activities on deck.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony Stateroom

The cabin was fine: the fridge was welcome, the bed-linen fresh and new ( the towels are perhaps nearing the end of their use ); sound-proofing seemed good, as lifts were quite close but inaudible. A406 is situated amidships, very handy for lifts to the Atrium and the restaurants, and not that far from Horizon Court.
