Harmony of the Seas Cruise Review by laurenleep
Good and bad. The shows were fantastic, basic staff was mediocre (they did their jobs, but could care less about the customer), mediocre food for the masses (both main dining room and buffets), but the speciality restaurants were excellent (both food and service, but for a price), outrageously expensive drink package (didn't do it), great 3 and 5-day specialty restaurant package (started with 3; after our one and only dinner in the main dining room, bumped it up to 5), not as many day-time at-sea activities to sign up for as am used to (and they cost extra), excellent night life (but not enough classic rock). Bottom line: everything extra costs you. If you have the money, you can upgrade your experience to something sensational; but if you don't, you'll either be bored and sober, or go broke spending money on things you can't afford. Because there's a range of clientele due to a low base price, there are many passengers who don't know how to act on a cruise ship.
Labadee is simply not large enough to accommodate the vast number of passengers from this ship. We were among the first to get off the ship, found a nice quite spot on the beach, but by noon we were surrounded by loud Brazilians. Had I known, we would have paid extra for a private area. (Once again, upgrading your experience is possible ... for a price. Because space is limited, can sell out early.)
By the way, get on board early and don't sit around relaxing until you can make reservations for the shows that you want to attend and times at restaurants for dinners. VERY chaotic and stressful because you are at the mercy of what spots are left. Difficult to schedule when you don't know which showtimes you'll be able to get and which restaurants will have openings at the times you want.
laurenleep’s Full Rating Summary
A very basic cabin, but served its purpose (to shower and sleep). Small, modern, clean. Good central location between the two banks of elevators. Because we got a last-minute deal, all that was left at first were balconies over the Boardwalk. Thankfully were moved to an opening over Central Park (because we requested it). Lots of nice background musical performances to listen in on (EXCEPT during loud pool-side performance upstairs during the day, but we were usually elsewhere by then).
