We decided on this cruise because it visited two ports in Cuba. We have previously sailed on Holland America and have been pleased. The Veendam, though an older vessel, was well kept and we had a marvelous time. We were upgraded, with an additional payment, to a verandah room, and thoroughly enjoyed the balcony views. The excursions were well managed, the food in the main dining room was very good and all the employees were very helpful and friendly. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. During our port stop in Jamaica, we wanted to have a beach experience, which HAL did not offer, so we booked on Resortforaday.com and went to the all inclusive Hilton Rose Hall Resort and had a great time. There was plenty of on board activities to keep us busy. They had two cooking shows on the days at sea, and the musical/dancing reviews were excellent. One of the best troupes we have seen on board ships. I did not care much for the magician and the Pianist was entertaining. We did have to tender for two of the ports, which I do not like, but not much you can do about that issue.
The cabin had plenty of storage space. We did not need all of it. Two beds pushed together, full sized sofa, coffee table, etc. The bathroom was sufficient with a smaller sized tub, but larger than most bathrooms on board ships.
