I have read the other reviews on this cruise and would agree that most of the amenities and customer service on board were quite good. Food, accommodation, entertainment, destination information from MickeyLive etc. all very acceptable.

The problem is that it is not a cruise one buys just to get away and relax and be entertained. This cruise is destination specific and contains locations that people plan carefully to visit and explore. Clearly Antarctica is the jewel in the crown and we did indeed reach there and it was spectacular and other than that only the stop in Montevideo was fine. Ushuaia was greatly devalued by arriving at after 3 pm, thereby limiting severely what you could do with your day. We had planned a car hire to drive to various locations during the day followed by evening dinner in Ushuaia - this was completely ruined. And the experience of rounding the Horn at daybreak to (hopefully) see the sunrise also cancelled.

In summary this 14 day cruise had just one worthwhile stop plus the 2 day Antarctica experience and many people are asking 'Why didn't I just fly to Ushuaia and take a cruise from there?'. Celebrity's efforts to compensate with additional entertainment etc are admirable but this should not cloud the fact that no-one paid their money for an 11 sea day cruise with a couple of extra shows. If the ship had been in seaworthy condition (i.e. full propulsion capability) then the entire programme would have been achieved since the original Falkland stop was scheduled one day before the bad weather - so the lack of goal achievement is definitely down to Celebrity.
