We had a wonderful time on this cruise, as we always do with Silversea. The destinations were nice and in some cases eye-opening since recent hurricanes. The staff is always incredibly nice and consistent on Silversea, the best anywhere. All the senior staff and crew circulated often and were very approachable. The food on this Grand Voyage of 29 days was exceptionally well prepared, with just a few exceptions. The meat entrees were by far the best we have ever had on a cruise. Strangely, though, Silversea (corporate) dropped the ball on provisioning. We sailed without a morsel of buffalo mozzarella, to the disappointment of anyone who wanted something ubiquitous like a caprese salad. By the second voyage the supplies of Pellegrino had been exhausted and by the third the prosecco was even gone! That was quite surprising for an Italian cruise line! Somebody up the ladder dropped the ball and put the staff on board in embarrassing positions in front of frustrated guests. These were just a few of the many shortages. Hopefully Silversea never lets this happen again.
The cabins on the Silver Wind are smaller than on other Silversea ships, with tub-shower combinations and overall less maneuver room. We were aware of this before boarding and so it was no surprise to us. The cabin itself clean and well maintained. The room attendant and butler provided magnificent service. We had no complaints. The Wind will undergo a major overall the end of this year. We suspect they will make some improvements.
