We booked this 9 day/4 port cruise a year ago after a great 7 day cruise on the same ship. We started off on Jan 26th with rough seas (big 30' swells) and a head-wind which caused our first port (Antiqua) to be cancelled. This was rough on those subject to motion sickness AND those with mobility problems. BUT, this is beyond the control of Celebrity and one must learn to move carefully, slowly and be careful! There were a couple of very large groups on the ship this time, causing dining problems in the Grand Cuvee Restaurant. Several older couples who had signed up for early dining (6 pm) due to digestion problems before bed, were bumped to the later seating and ended up eating most evening meals in the Oceanview Café. Even with confirmed dining reservations, the seating time was slow and the wait for some was 45 minutes or more. BUT, once seated, the food and service was excellent. Decks/pools were closed due to high seas for the 1st 2 days, but the staff worked hard to keep us occupied. We did eat at one of the 'specialty' restaurants, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the $40 mark-up per person. Will skip that the next cruise. We only did one shore excursion booked through the cruise line. The bus provided for the "Coast to Coast" excursion on Barbados was extremely unsafe in that the cushioned seats were NOT bolted to the seat frames, so they bounced over every pothole, slid forward going down a hill and backward going up a hill. Bus looked 'good,' but in the future we will probably skip these things! Sadly, for my husband and I, we both came down with the flu within 12 hours of disembarkation, mine also going to pneumonia and ending up in the hospital for 7 days. I understand there were a number of other cases that hit with hours of leaving the ship.
Nice cabin. This one has the bed by the veranda, with the desk/seating area when you first walk in. The seating bench is uncomfortable and sags a bit (same problem last year in different cabin). If a C-Pap or other machine is needed at night, this lay-out is NOT good because the extension cord crosses the room causing a major tripping hazzard at night if a trip to the bathroom is needed. We fortunately carry a flashlight, so that helped. Keep that in mind when booking a cabin!
