This cruise was a first for my husband and myself. After a bit of prompting from my in-laws, we booked this December 13- 20 cruise on the Celebrity Solstice. Our ship embarked from Fort Lauderdale, and we started the vacation off the right way, with excellent weather! We arrived at the port and found parking to be much easier than anticipated. Check in went very smoothly, until we hit the escillator to go upstairs and we then were given a letter. The letter apologized, but since this was the first time in port since coming from Europe, there would be a delay boarding because the ship and crew had to all go through inspections. We were seated according to our class, and everything was really organized well. Initially they had told us we could board at around 2 p.m., but the ship actually was cleared early, and we then boarded about 12:30.. Cabins were not quite ready, but we did drop off our carry-ons, then headed down to the Oceanview Cafe for lunch. As a first time cruiser, this was a great start to our adventure. Lunch was very nice, and we had a great spot on the back deck, enjoying great views, company (my in-laws) and yummy nibbles! After some exploration, and touring of the ship with my family, an announcement was made that staterooms were ready. We proceeded up to the 10th floor to our stateroom, and it was neatly put together. I sat down on the edge of my bed, checking out the phone, when I noticed something gray at the edge of the bed, slightly underneath. I could not believe my eyes when I pulled out a pair of mens dress pants and a worn out pair of shoes...yukk!!!! Immediately, my sister in law called for our room attendant, and he was shocked, and apologized over and over. Our room attendant then called his assistant and they were going to go over our room for a 2nd time, and all was ok then. For the rest of this trip, I will say our room was most likely the cleanest of all!! thanks guys! Food on board is very good, we did 3 specialty restaurants, Silk Harvest, which is asian-fusion is very very good, and then Tuscan Grill, great food, and I highly recommend the fondue dessert, I am still dreaming about this badboy! And on our last sea day, we lunched at Bistro on 5, which is a creperie and panini place. I really liked it, but my husband thought it would just be better for him for dessert. Disembarking went very smooth, as we carried out our own things, I hight recommend doing it this way, we were off, through customs and in the car on our way by 7:45 a.m. . All in all a great experience, the staff was fantastic, and the shows where very nice, more than I expected on a ship. I am looking forward to spending more time on Celebrity in the future....One more thing, our captain Demetrios, was hilarious in his announcements, it was one more thing that made this trip so memorable!

Cabin Review

Cabin Con

Our cabin 1048 was nice, the bathroom was a good size and I really liked the shower. The room was much quieter than I expected, I think Celebrity has done a great job on insulating the rooms. The rooms toward the bow from us had the larger balconies. One thing I will look at the next time we cruise, I like how the room next to us was set up a bit better, our bed was next to the balcony, which meant I had to navigate through the dark room to go to the loo at night, whereas the room next door had the bed next to the loo, much better I think!
