Entertainment on the pool deck, got us in the mood for Cuba

I have wanted to see Cuba since I was in 7th grade. Seeing the opportunity that taking a cruise there would mean we jumped at the chance. To see the places and meet the people I could only dream about. Boarding the Empress was like a dream come true. A ship from another time. Embarkation was quick and speedy as was disembarkation We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful she was, the crew was the greatest ever, all eager to please us. The staff in the main dining room and the Windjammer went out of their way to see that every wish was granted. We were reminded how small the Empress was and having been on the huge ships she was a welcome change. We never had to wait for an elevator, the lines that are usual in the Windjammer didn't appear. And always we found deck chairs for three, even while dining there was always a table available by the window, Oour cabin attendant Manuel was always around to take care of anything we might need, And the staff of the Photography Studio were a blast, taking pose after pose saving all our memories to paper to save forever. My husband and daughter especially enjoyed the comedian they had, and again plenty of seats available for every show. We will always look back upon our journey to Cuba with a fond memory of The Empress!

Cabin Review

Cabin oceanview

Our cabin was small but we fit fine in it with 3 adults. There was plenty of storage areas and a large closet, our bags fit under the beds quite easily. We separated the beds so there was more room. A bit of a hassle for my husband to climb up on to the bunk, but he did just fine. There is a great ledge in front of the window that is another place to store your things. The bathroom again was very tiny but we found no problem showering and getting ready.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

We had been scheduled for the ruin tour, it was cancelled due to the bus accident on a previous tour. So we did not plan anything but to walk around the port. It was very crowded as there were 3 ships in. Mainly just souvenir shops with very pushy vendors. We took the trolley into the fishing village. all we saw was more vendors and people trying to push massages on us. We should have remained on the ship for all we saw. Was very disappointed in it
