From the very start it felt as if they were pushing anything that was an extra charge. The specialty dining rooms, the multitude of drink packages. There was a $7.95 fee (to which an additional 18% would be added) for room service, and an $11.95 fee for an in room movie, with absolutely no options for free. What happened to chocolates on the pillow? Complementary beach bag? It appears that Royal Caribbean does not know the meaning of complementary. It makes us feel like we are special and they appreciate us a passengers. And then there was the dining room experience… We went as part of a group. Four days in a row over the loud speaker, came the patting of themselves on the back and tooting their own horn at the expense of our social/conversation time and disrupting our service. SERVICE. At one point they asked us to give our wait staff a standing ovation, WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING!!!!! and an additional standing ovation during desert. In the Wipe Out Café (on the same deck as the Windjammer), they did not offer ice tea in the beverage dispenser. When I asked about it, I was told to go to the Windjammer to get it (while I was standing there holding my lunch). I’m not exactly sure what we paid for, except an overpriced hotel room. Royal Caribbean, specifically Oasis of the Seas, needs to work on "service", i.e. to serve. Service seemed to be available only for additional fee, plus the mandatory 18% gratuity. For the most part we felt we had to "serve" ourselves, fend for ourselves and at times bus our own table. We would not recommend Oasis of the Seas to anyone.
