I will never use Carnival again for a cruise. Carnival knew since 6am that the ship coming back to port would not be able to dock in the port due to fog. We received no notification. We drive to the port, they take our luggage and send us to Mobile's filthy civic center to wait until 9pm. Then they tell us that we will not sail that night and we are on our own to find a hotel room without access to the luggage they already took. They offered a 10% discount at Holiday Inn if you wait in a line with about 1000 people already in the line. Ridiculous! The lack of security and information on the part of Carnival is inexcuseable. They had NO concern for our safety or comfort. The LEAST they could do is cover the cost of the hotel which they did not. Forget calling their corporate office. They told me they had no policies and procedures to deal with weather issues. The embarkment crew were stupid at best. What a way to start a vacation. Do not bother with this trip. The ship is extremely dated and worn out. It needs a serious makeover. The staff was nice. That is the best I can say about Carnival. The entertainment reminds me of high school performances. Everything on the ship is overpriced, especially alcohol. Carnival really knows how to nickel and dime you to death. Due to the weather, the sea was so rough that it was difficult to even walk on board. If I were you, I would be SURE the weather is going to be nice by taking a last minute cruise. People were falling down and visibly ill. This was not safe for the elderly.
