Embarkation went smoothly for the most part, although the weather didn't cooperate for sailaway! The regular cruise director was at a convention, but his sub, Shake-It Shirley, brought a lot of energy and humor to the role, so that was fine! The staff was all friendly and helpful, and there were a lot of activities, although they did start to get repetitive after 10 days on the ship, they may want to look into some alternatives for variety, especially since they didn't change the times day after day.

The staff did a good job of recognizing when an activity was popular, and adjusting the venue accordingly. but there were a few communication challenges that were frustrating. One was due to my relying on the iConcierge app, which wasn't always up to date, so we ended up missing trivia because it had been relocated to the Bliss Lounge due to high demand. The second time, we missed trivia because it was moved to Gatsby's because of Bingo in Bliss, but no announcement was made in Bliss, so quite a few of us missed the beginning and just happened upon it.

The cabin was nice and quiet, although we would inexplicably hear chairs being dragged occasionally, which is odd since we were below other cabins, not a common area. I was pleased to have a pretty good selection of movies available. It would be nice if there were some way of knowing the schedule of what movies and TV shows would be available, as we ended up seeing the end of quite a few movies and never seeing the beginning.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BC

The cabin wasn't terribly roomy, but the bed was comfortable, and everything worked as expected. It was reasonably quiet, with cabins above and below, although there was inexplicably some noise of chairs being dragged occasionally - I have to assume it was coming from the balcony above? There was sufficient storage for us to keep our stuff for a 10-day cruise, including plenty of hangers.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

We didn't spend much time on the Caye, just gave it a quick walk-around, as I wasn't feeling inclined to be further nickel and dimed by NCL. We purchased ferry tickets to Placencia, where we had booked an independent tour with Monkey River Ecotours, which was excellent. The ferry, purchased through the ship, left something to be desired. Our ferry departure was marked as 8:50, and we were waiting at the marina by 8:30, but the boat didn't leave the marina until almost 9:30. We were told the last return ferry would be at 3:30, and that they would leave every hour. We expected to be back in time for the 2:30 ferry, so that was fine.

We returned about 2:15, to find quite a few people waiting at the pier. We continued to wait until about 3:00, and meanwhile heard some of the people waiting complaining, because the ferry wasn't going to return until everyone was back. Apparently sometime after the first ferry that morning, the ferry company changed their tune and started telling people the last ferry would leave at 2:30, because the weather was keeping a lot of people on the ship. Well, they had no way of letting the people who had already come over about the change, so when these people showed up on time, the people waiting were all out of joint because they thought they were inconsiderate for being late. I just wasn't overly impressed with the professionalism of the ferry group, if you state a time, you can't arbitrarily change it midway through the day. We also learned that they made earlier return groups wait up to two hours to return because they didn't have anyone waiting to go to Placencia.

Our tour in Placencia was great, but getting there was more aggravating than necessary.
