Sail Date: Jan 2018

We knew we would want a break from winter, so we chose this cruise. We had done a 12 night Caribbean cruise on the Equinox last January. Thrilled to find this 14 night cruise. The sad news is that, next winter, there will only be two Celebrity 14 night sailings (on the Reflection) next winter. Neither of those dates will work for us. We loved this 14 day length. Unlike back to back 7 day cruises, we had very little repeat in any dining or activities - and of course, no repeats on ports.

Embarkation was very delayed due to hours late clearance of the ship on arrival. From what I heard, all ships in port that day were similarly affected. Although the government shutdown was not supposed to affect Customs and Immigration, we heard from several sources that it was very short staffed that day. Perhaps the flu caused short staffing. Who knows. There was about a 2 hour wait to board after check in. The Port facilities are not set up with enough seating for a delay like this, but most everyone seemed in pretty good spirits. We were all happy when the ship was cleared to allow us to board.

I can't speak highly enough of the of the crew. Captain Leo was the most engaged Captain we have sailed with (multiple lines, 20 or so cruises). The Cruise Director, Eddy, and the Activities Manager, Giuseppe, set a great tone for the ship experience. We are not big activities or show people, although we attended a few. In this case, however, it was clear to us that the energy and professional style of these and other senior officers made a big difference in the onboard experience.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deck 8

A little smaller than the midship inside cabin we had one deck up on a prior cruise (chair instead of sofa), but large enough. It was designed in a way that maximized usable space and the perception of spaciousness. Nice quiet cabin. Good location for us. Next to a crew-only space but still quiet (not always our experience). We would book this class cabin again. We packed light, so we had more than enough space. The over the bed storage is a nice feature. Great shower, well laid out bathroom.
