Sail Date: Dec 2017
Cabin: Balcony

We are 3 members of a family who sailed on the Glory from Miami to western Caribbean on December 30, 2017. We have been on many cruise ships over the years and had sail Carnival several times before. The Glory is an old ship. The staterooms and public areas are dated and in desperate need of remodeling. Our cabin number was 8384. Dated, and noisy at nights because the Lido deck with pools and restaurants is just above.

The ship’s layout is certainly awkward, and sometimes you feel as if you are on a labyrinth when moving around. The food quality and variety are certainly average. On the first two nights of our cruise the main dinning room service was substandard. The wait lines were up to 45 minutes to 1 hour. The waiters service was rude, lacking the most elemental table manners. They acted as if they were stressed-out and couldn’t care less for guest satisfaction. This situation improved after the 3rd night. Maybe they added more staff. They apologized by sending a few chocolates to our room.

We had a terrible experience when my wife became seriously ill due to food poisoning at the Lido deck buffet. On December 30 and 31 she only had food at the ship because we were at sea. She became ill from diarrhea and vomiting starting on New Year’s Eve and continued through the New Year. The food poisoning resulted in a gastric disorder which caused chest pain and she had to be taken to the medical facility. They charged a $255 medical bill and refused to assume any responsibility or to waive the charge. Not even an apology was given.

Cabin 8E

Cabin was dated. Average service.

For the price we paid, value for money was poor.
