Background information: My wife and I planned this trip to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We hoped to spend a week playing in the sun, unplugged from the world, and the cruise was everything we hoped for.

To start, we were pleased with the level of communication that Royal uses. The Port of Galveston was closed for several morning hours on our embarkation day, making it impossible for the prior voyage to return. RCCL both texted and emailed us letting us know not to arrive early at the port, then eventually followed up with a notification of when to arrive and that the fog had cleared. Problems are going to happen that are out of the cruise line's control; how they handle them is key, and RCCL does a great job.

The ship is in good condition and very comfortable. The layout is very similar to other RCCL ships, so it's easy to get around if you've ever cruised with them before.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

This cabin is on the bump out, very near the mid-ship elevators. Easy to get to, lots more room than a standard balcony cabin. Pool and the Windjammer restaurant is only two floors up, so you can walk it if you don't want to wait for an elevator.
