We took the Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen round trip coatal voyage on MS Trollfjord. We did the same trip 5 years ago and it was amazing so we had very high expectations and we were not disappointed. The scenery is just stunning, the ship is beautifully decorated and the food is just lovely and a true taste of Norway. We particularly enjoy the lack of entertainment on baord which provides a peaceful environment to watch the ever changing views. We saw the Northern lights on several occasions, sailed though sea ice on approach to Kirkenes and enjoyed amazing night time scenery by moonlight. Just magical. We also love being out on deck during visits to all of the little ports and watching goods being unloaded and provisions being brought on board - often crates of local produce and fresh fish for the supper ahead. Our cabin was excellent and the crew on board were friendly and efficient. Norway is an expensive country and drinks on board are not cheap, but they are about the same price as in Norway so can't complain. The excursions are also expensive but well organised and enjoyable, we did the North Cape - not to be missed, a coastal walk around Bodo which was beautiful with lovely views and an excellent guide, and the Midnight concert in Tromo which is a special experience. We can't recomment Hurtigruten highly enough, this is not a typical cruise but that is exactly why we like it and will certainly do it again as soon as we can.
This is an excellent cabin, on deck 7 so near to the viewing lounge and at the front of the ship where there is no vibration from the engines. Very quiet and spacious compared to the smaller cabins. Love the underfloor heating in the bathroom.
