Took a 9 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean in early January to get away from the cold Ohio weather and glad we did. First time on the Navigator but we had sailed on the Adventure so we already were familiar with the layout. Flew to Miami a day early so we weren't as rushed and just in case the weather was bad. Deicing in Cincinnati caused us to miss our connecting flight but we received another one quickly so we arrived in Miami only an hour or two later than scheduled. Hotel in Miami said they had no record of us having a reservation though our TA had confirmed it before we left. A quick call to her resulted in a booking at the Miami Airport Wingate hotel which proved to be a good alternative. Not only did they pick us up at the airport, we got a great room with breakfast included and a shuttle for $12 each person to the ship the next morning, which was about a 20 minute ride. Embarkation we very well. From the time the shuttle dropped us off to the time we were actually on board was no more than 1/2 hour. We arrived about 11am so it may have helped that a lot of people had not yet arrived. We booked a Promenade cabin (7559), something new for us. A little more spacious with 2 small sofas and the window for people watching. We were very pleased with it. Our steward (Steven) was excellent, took very good care of both us and the cabin. For the first time ever we did My Time dining... mixed feelings on that. We did get to eat at whatever time was convenient for us (usually about 7 pm), but we had a different waiter each night so we never really got to know them like we have when we have a regular seating time. Food and service were very good, usually we were in the dining room about 1 - 1 1/2 hours each evening. A couple of nights we ate at the Windjammer instead out of convenience and not wanting to get all dressed up for the dining room. Entertainment was ok but not spectacular. We enjoyed a few shows in the theater after the evening meal and the ice skating show one afternoon while at sea. I guess it all depends on what you enjoy and how you want to spend your time. Weather the first 2 days was a little rainy and cool as were leaving Miami so we weren't outside a lot. We bypassed our stop in Labadee due to storms there but that just gave us an extra day at sea. Our stops in Curacao, Bonaire, and Aruba all went well and we were able to enjoy the sun and warm temperatures. We had arranged our own excursions for Curacao & Bonaire and in Aruba we did the Sailaway Beach Break through Royal which was very enjoyable and well worth the money. Debarkation went just as well as embarkation. We booked and excursion in Miami since our return flight wasn't until evening. Lines were not very long and passing through customs was easy. We were on our bus to leave for the excursion at 9 am. For us, having been through some hardships over the last year or so it was a much needed and very enjoyable break. We would not hesitate to do it again!
