Viking went beyond our expectations to make our trip flow smoothly from start to finish. From meeting us with our bags when we came out of customs in the Zurich airport to our pre-cruise excursion in Lucerne all the way through the river cruise and finally to the airport in Amsterdam. The small ship experience of the river cruise suited us much better than the large ocean ships we had cruised on previously. It was more intimate and, consequently, made it more conducive to meeting people and making new friends.

The included excursions were generally excellent as were the optional tours (especially Top of the Cologne Cathedral). The only issue we had was with the excursion to the Black Forest -- it was a little too rushed. Not enough time at the destination to explore the Black Forest or look at the clocks.

Food was top notch and our maître d took excellent care of my wife's dietary needs. The crew, staff and guides were very friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. The bus drivers did a great job as well. Read more
