Our seven day Southern Caribbean cruise on Summit was really planned as a short mid-winter getaway which explains why we chose to sail out of San Juan rather than an easy to reach Florida port which can be chilly in January. We got the warm sunny weather we wanted.
Celebrity Summit was picked because we had sailed on the identical ship Millennium out of San Juan a few years back and loved it and the cruise critic forums showed Summit to have a very loyal base of repeat passengers. We also try to pick a ship and date with no school children on holidays and no teens on college break. There were barely any children seen or heard on the Jan 13-20 itinerary.
Out of 17 cruises we've taken, this was our seventh from San Juan where the passenger mix is quite different from the closer to home US ports. The Summit didn't have hallways jammed with mobility scooters. Thankfully no emotional support animals on board and perk seeking entitled elite status passengers from Suite Class and Aqua Class had their own specialty restaurants and didn't get in our way. I shouldn't make fun the of Aqua and Suite Class because when they overpay for staterooms our Category 11 is more affordable.
