The Jewel class ships are our favorite NCL cruises because of size, amenities and passenger to crew ratio which affords excellent service. We have just completed a Western Caribbean sailing on the Jade and were totally pleased. The ship and staff met or exceeded expectations. Smiles were common among happy passengers and a staff that is not overworked as on the larger (and in some cases, poorly designed ships) The main dining rooms served excellent food and service was friendly and professional. The only negative was outrageously overpriced wines, but even here there were several very good hidden values for the knowledgeable aficionado.. Entertainment was varied and we usually prefer a good lounge performer to the glitzy but dull production shows, and magicians, jugglers, etc. Public spaces were comfortable, well decorated and immaculately clean. The buffet was not a disaster escape but truly good flavorful dishes served well. Many areas to just relax and enjoy the view which is not the case on the larger ships which are jammed with balconies eliminating sea views in the atrium and lounges. Embarkation and Debarkation were smooth and speedy. This is a high comfort ship offering all the necessary bells and whistles.
