We chose this cruise as we could drive to New York City from Ontario Canada within 8-9 hours. This cruise was our Christmas gift to our 2 adult daughters (ages 18 & 23) as well, a chance to include my mother (age 75) and my husband's mother(age 85). (we had 3 staterooms booked). You will note, this was the cruise that went through the terrifying Bomb Cyclone and for 3 days we lived in fear, not knowing if we would survive. If you are thinking about taking a cruise with Norwegian Breakaway, search Bomb Cyclone cruise (Dec 29, 2017 to Jan 5th, 2018) and you will see proof of what all of the passengers went through. To date NCL has offered 25% off our next cruise with no other promos and must be taken in 12 months! No one is accepting this joke of an offer. NCL does not stand behind ensuring your safety and comfort as they willing took us through the storm in order to meet their next cruise obligations, regardless of what it meant to us the passengers.

We have previously cruised with Norwegian, Carnival & Royal Caribbean (over 10 cruises) so we can compare. This ship is one of Norwegians's largest and newest ships. The staterooms look larger only because of the lack of storage for your clothing. There were no drawers to put things and only open shelves in the closet (and you could not see items once in closet). The complimentary food (in the dining rooms) was not at the caliber we remember from our previous cruises (Carnival has better food). Since they do not have set dining times, you waited in lines and then felt rushed to get out of the dining room for the next group and you did not enjoy the same servers who would know your name and greet you each day. Most meals, esp. at the Pub were cold by the time we received. Entertainment was fine however a lack of nightly entertainment and they now want you to make reservations and pay extra for a night of "specialty" entertainment. So the cruise ships have "specialty" dining experiences at a cost and now Norwegian charges for entertainment. When we hit the rough waters (for 3 days) ALL entertainment (dancing etc) was cancelled.

We were never served lobster, not even on New Years Eve, however we received lobster on our Carnival cruise just March 2017 in the regular dining room.
