We have sailed with Celebrity quite a few times and we have always recommended it till this last cruise. We chose this cruise as it was going to places we havent been especially Vietnam which was very lovely and unusual. Unfortunately the ship was awful it needs a complete refurbishment or taking out of commission completely. We had issues from the minute we stepped in the cabin, it was lovely and clean and the cabin steward was very helpful. we unpacked and went to put our passports etc in the safe, it wouldnt close and no instructions, guy came down and explained what to do (we had missed a letter A off the combination) we did it whilst he was there and all ok. Next day went to open it and it wouldnt open had to wait for him to come and to see to it, this happened a couple of times, so annoying. then probs with air conditioning waiting for a day and bit to get it sorted. Next day a prob with toilet wouldnt flush, reported it in morning, nothing done by lunch phoned again, then again they eventually came to do it at 10.30 at night when we were in bed. The engineer did it from the outside but did something to make everything in the bowl go over the bathroom floor so they had to get a cleaner in to clean and sterilize.

The food most of the time was bland and not warm, not even when it was just brought out from the kitchen. the waiting times at the omelette was disgusting, working off one little electric ring instead of 2. i waited over 15 mins (2 people in front of me). Staff very pushy with selling the drink package. Getting off to visit we had to use the tender waited over an hour and half to come back after only a couple going. Apparently one broke down (this is disgusting if there was a real emergency and you had to take the tender to save your life it would break down then where would you be" Very disorganised and no communication to tell you what was happening. The thailassotherapy pool was rusty round the edges and on the bottom of the pool, not nice at all. At breakfast hardly ever saw the man with the trolley refilling your coffee or tea. Dress code in the dining room at night left a lot to be desired. I ordered the starter when it came it was far too spicy asked if i could have a salad instead, very polite no problems but waited 30minutes for it, (everyone had finished theirs and was waiting for their main course) not good at all. Re our companions at the table requested one for 8 people, only 7 of us , myself and hubby and 5 elderly ladies!!!! not good at all so we often went to the buffet upstairs.

Unfortunately we had booked another cruise with Celebrity for february (next month) with another ship but if we could have cancelled it we would have done as we dont want the same experience again. If its no good then we will never go with Celebrity again. Wherever you went on the ship or who you met they all had quite a few complaints about the ship and staff. The price of the drinks are disgusting to say what they can buy them for with them buying in bulk for all their ships, and there was No Happy Hour !! this alone was a disgrace. There are a couple of good points the handrails leading to our cabin was always nice and clean, on the rest of the ship they were sticky and dirty. The entertainment was fantastic lots of great artists.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 7

the cabin was always clean and tidy. Unfortunately the toiletries were not renewed and had to keep asking for them. When we met our cabin steward he said if you want to use your towels more than once put them back on the hook. We did this as we cant see why people want a clean towel every day especially the small hand towels.BUT he put clean towels in every day sometimes 3 times a complete waste and not good for the enviroment. He kept our section which he looked after nice and clean the handrails were clean every day. He was very good and polite.
