The Gem was clean as a whistle as usual. The service was was wonderful, and the food was spectacular. The weather couldn't be beat, and no flying involved, cruising out of NYC is the best! So, in general, our experience was excellent.
Without getting too picky, there were a few disappointments. The smoking policy is NOT enforced enough. They need to have more NO SMOKING signs put up. It wouldn't hurt to have some of their ample security force pounding the beat to instruct smokers to visit a smoking area. Deck 14 Forward is a designate "QUIET ZONE", Security could tell the loud mouths to quiet down! Again, more signs. We always enjoy Le Bistro French restaurant, and I look forward to having a great Roast Duck. They still have Duck, but now it is served shredded. It's like pulled pork meets duck. I won't get that again.
My cabin was inside; it more more than adequate, very clean and quiet. We don't spend a lot of time in there except to sleep. The shows were entertaining, and we went most nights. All of the bars we inviting, and the drinks were perfect. We especially like O'Shanhans on deck 8. The gym was loaded with machine and free weights to work off the duck!!
Clean and very adequate.
