Sail Date: Jan 2018

The ship was very good. We sailed on this same ship in January ‘17 in the West Indies, and felt the food was better on that sailing. All servers and cabin mates on board were very attentive and friendly. Included shore excursions were generally very good. I love this size ship, as there is little waiting, yet it provides most of the amenities the larger ships have. Both embarkation and disembarkation are so easy - almost no waiting and took less than 5 minutes each.

My main problem is that the stops in Algiers and Tunis were cancelled only shortly before departure. These stops were the only reason we decided to take this cruise, as we have been in Italy and Spain multiple times in the past.

Another issue is that the air travel (purchased from Viking) was extremely uncomfortable, especially as we traveled non-stop from Los Angelos to Rome. The Air France seating was horribly uncomfortable.

Cabin Review

Cabin V2-veranda

Clean and comfortable. Bathroom is great. Liked having a mini-frig. Lighting and built-in WiFi adaptors excellent.

Port Reviews

Trapani

Needed to see a different part of Sicily, as heavy waves would not let us dock in Trapani. Very good tour of the area. Interesting history.

Tunis (La Goulette)

Tunis was eliminated very shortly before departure. Extremely disappointed in this, as it was one of the reasons I took this cruise. I felt that Viking should have known of the potential for danger far in advance and provided us with the option to cancel.

Algiers

Algiers was the second port that I wanted to see, but couldn’t as it was canceled at the last minute. Very, very disappointed.

Valencia

Loved Valencia. Right amount of bus, walking, and free time. Beautiful city. Loved the architecture.
