  3. Viking Sea
We had traveled on a Viking River Cruise a few years ago and feel it was one of our favorite adventures - Budapest to Amsterdam. Three other couples were with us on that trip and we still reminisce about our great time. We've taken several cruises (Alaska, Bermuda, Hawaii, the Baltic Capitals, Mexico, etc. ) and enjoyed them but we kept hearing rave reviews about the Viking Ocean Cruises. My husband and I decided to take a Viking Ocean Cruise to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. So last March we flew to Barcelona and boarded the Viking Sea for the Mediterranean adventure - France, Monaco, Italy, Greece, Croatia. The ports of call were all magnificent and the tours very enjoyable with excellent guides and itineraries. But the part of the trip that we are still telling everyone about is the ship, the amenities, the service, the personnel,, and all the special perks offered to all the passengers. Our room was definitely the best of any we'd had on other trips and the obvious attention to detail on the room's amenities and equipment was surely appreciated. Our experience with Viking is so positive, we have already booked a cruise later this year - Norway to Montreal - and we are already excited about it and so are the friends that will be traveling with us. Next year we are planning another river cruise with Viking - Paris to the Normandy beaches. Already several friends are expressing an interest in joining us. Thank you, Viking. You are the BEST!!!

Cabin Review

Cabin 6083
This cabin was the best we have ever encountered (and we've traveled a lot on wonderful ships). We were so impressed with the size of the room, the large closet with plenty of hangers, all the storage available in the desk, dressers, bathroom drawers, etc., the coffee maker with pods, the movies we could watch in our room, the mini-bar in our room, and (my favorite feature) the vanity compartment in the desk area. What a delight to have that area for storage and for makeup application each morning. I loved it!

  • City Tour
We were short on time but really glad we chose this city tour. We had an opportunity to see many of Barcelona's special areas. Our guide was very informative.

  • Paleokatsriza Walking Tour
Our guide was a delight and so familiar with everyone we encountered in the little shops. We were treated to a special Greek luncheon that was really enjoyable and then another chance to visit the little shops and purchase some of the linens that were so beautiful decorated. My little tablecloth is on display here at home and I always get inquiries about it. We loved Corfu!

  • Cable Car
The cable car trip was fun and really necessary to get a complete view of the "Old Town" area. Our coach trip out to Cavtat gave us a chance to see how beautiful this area truly is. The little medieval town of Cavtat was a delight. It is located on Zupa Bay. The entire area is so charming.

  • Cavtat Walking Tour
Cavtat was so charming. We enjoyed the walking tour and the opportunity to take lots of photos of the incredible scenery - everywhere you looked! Loved that little medieval town!

  • Florence Walking Tour
This was a special part of the cruise for us because we got engaged in Florence 20+ years ago. Our tour guide "Sammy" took us to the Pitti Palace and dazzled us with his knowledge of the incredible art collection within the Palace. This was followed by a delicious lunch at a quaint little restaurant and then a long walking tour that included a walk over the Ponte Vecchio and a visit to (the same?) jewelry store where we became engaged. We also were impressed with the fantastic Duomo and the Church of Santa Croce - the burial site of Michelangelo and Galileo.

  • Monte Carlo Walking Tour
Monte Carlo is beautiful - but it almost seems like a fairy-tale world. Everything is perfect. Spotless, Excellent condition. Expensive. We had been to Monte Carlo many years before but the tour was very interesting and we learned a great deal.

  • Pompeii Walking Tour
An unforgettable excursion that I would recommend to anyone. We were astounded by the amount of ruins available to tour and the artifacts salvaged from the ash burial. Pompeii is a must-see on this cruise itinerary.

  • Sorrento
Sorrento was a beautiful place with some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe. We loved strolling through the little passageways and visiting the little shops. So quaint. And the people were so friendly! We simply had to find some lemoncello to take back with us and many of the shops were proud of their lemoncello.

  • City Tour
We did it all - the Colusseum, the Arch of Constantine, Circus Maximus, and then the walking tour to see the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the incredible structure called The Pantheon - built in 120AD and still in remarkable condition. Very impressive! Great guide!

  • Colosseum
Everyone should visit the Colosseum to appreciate the history and the features this structure had - even though it was built in 72AD!

  • Trogir Walking Tour
The little town of Trogir is home to the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. The shrine and the carved doorway were the best I've ever seen! Visiting this cathedral was a real honor and the memories will last a lifetime. This is a must-see attraction.

After a lunch of proscuitto and brie (and wine) we were then treated to an exceptional tour of the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace in the heart of Split. What an impressive structure! It was a pleasant surprise to find the most colorful outdoor market with such an assortment of flowers, fruit, meats. Split is a gem, too!

  • Toulon
We chose the excursion to Marseille to travel to the hilltop site of the Notre Dame de la Garde basilica. It was a spectacular place and the trip up to the hilltop and back was also an experience because the streets were narrow and our motor coach was large.
We ended that trip with a afternoon tour of Aix-en-Provence and loved it. We enjoyed the walking required because we knew a delicious French meal was waiting for us and thought some exercise would be beneficial.

  • Doge's Palace
Our tour of the doge's Palace was excellent. We were able to cross the Bridge of Sighs and see the jail cells that had been used so long ago. The Doge's Palace is a magnificent place - with the largest oil painting in the world in the giant ballroom. Venice is truly out of this world!
