We were part of a group reunion. Had done 2 Carnival cruises in 95-96 so was rather curious about today's Carnival ships especially since this is a newer ship. Overall, the ship is satisfactory, but doubt if I would sail again with them as they did not have the WOW factor for me. Overall decoration of the ship was ordinary.
Food was okay, but portions were generous -- French onion soup and melting chocolate cake were excellent. The Lido buffet did not have a great deal of variety, vegetables were limited. The layout is spread out and makes it initially confusing and inconvenient. First day of Anytime Dining was confusing and hectic. Much improved the next night. In fact, kind of nice in that you register for a table on deck 5, are given a unit that glows when a table is ready. In the interim, there is a lounge near by for cocktails or just comfortably waiting. Guy's Burgers were excellent and not long lines on off-peak times. The soft serve and frozen yogurt machine areas were constantly busy.
Did not really participate in any of the main showroom or lounge entertainment, but did not hear any great reviews.
Cabin is nicely laid out. Bathroom has bright lights and a pullout magnifying mirror. Towels were heavy weight. I find I like the door at the balcony better than the sliding traditional glass doors. Beds were comfortable with crisp sheets and fluffy pillows. As with all cruise lines the tv stations are limited programming. The paid movies were only $4.99 and the selection fair. The bathroom had a moldy, musty smell which Housekeeping did take care of. Our traveling companions next door described theirs as sour. This same smell was in a couple of ship areas. In past cruises, the room is automatically cleaned twice a day uness otherwise notified. Carnival gives you a choice of morning, evening or both.
