Backgrounder for us: this was our 5th cruise overall and 4th with Royal Caribbean, but the first in this class of ship. This trip was all about the ship and avoiding winter for a week since we had already been to all the port stops. We also travelled with two kids - 3 & 5. I know, we're nuts!
The Allure is massive - there's just no other way around it - this ship is something to behold. The other reviews we read before the trip were pretty bang on: outside of some of the restaurants, it never really felt crowded. The distinct neighbourhoods are a masterstroke and gave us plenty of options. The promenade - basically the mall - was pretty similar to the promenades on the smaller ships. The boardwalk is fantastic - basically a mini fair with carousal, kids games and nice hang-out areas. Our kids loved it. Given the size of the ship (and that it was fully booked), we were pleasantly surprised at the tranquilness of Central Park on the 8th level - literally a park in the middle of the ship. There's also a bar in the middle of the ship that goes up & down between the 5th-floor promenade to Central Park - highly recommend just for the experience.
Dining: No issues from us. We did the American Grill sit-down (my time) for dinner every night. They were great, especially once our waiter figured out what the kids liked and kept them happy while we ate our dinner. Windjammer is fine for buffet style food - we did it for lunch most days but also found that it was super super busy with long lineups. Here's the tip for breakfast - the restaurant in Central Park, while not a full buffet, is a much quieter option to start your day. We did that most of the week.
No issues with the room whatsoever. Big enough to handle the four of us. We always come back from dinner to find our kids' bed (the roll-out couch) all ready to go for them.
