  3. Carnival Conquest
Traveled on Carnival Conquest early in January 2018. We had an aft-facing extended balcony for the first time and the extra room was nice. Balcony had two recliners, two chairs and a small table. Low wind was nice but when we headed north at the end of the cruise the sun felt like it was 10 feet away. Probably will move to the side of the ship next time. Lots of peeling paint on the back of the ship outside the balconies but the rest of the ship seemed in good shape and included most of the new Carnival amenities after just coming out of dry dock. The crew was fantastic. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful which we have come to expect from Carnival but this crew was exceptional. We have taken about 20 Carnival cruises but have dabbled in other lines. Our last cruise was with NCL which we didn't like and we were reminded how much better Carnival does dining and food options. On Norwegian there were nights we couldn't find much appealing to eat from the dining room to the lido buffet. On Carnival there were tons of options that were tasty and appealing whether it was from the dining room, the buffet or the steak house. Also liked Guy's Burgers, the sandwich deli, the barbeque, and the Seafood Shack. All great. Entertainment was good, we saw an 80's music presentation, the game show, and movie night for Dunkirk. We don't always go to the shows but these were fun. Aruba and Curacao were great and we have been to them before. Rode/drove side by side ATV's in Aruba and had a blast. Amber Cove was nice, a port built for cruise passengers. Went to the bar on the hill that looks like a UFO and had a few mojitos. Nice view from there. Now that I have been to Santo Domingo, I don't really see a need to ever go back. No real water based tours there, port area is dirty. Took a taxi tour and saw the "highlights". It's OK once but no need to go back. Almost as bad as LaRomana. Overall, another positive experience on Carnival. Will try Oceania soon. Probably get spoiled.

Excellent, friendly crew. Service and food very good.

Cabin Review

Aft-View Extended Balcony
Cabin 8N 8452
Standard Carnival cabin with extended balcony. Functional and comfortable. Rear facing location is nice, prop wake is mesmerizing. Ride was a bit bumpy but didn't bother us.
