I chose this cruise for several reasons. We were able to drive to the port, the length of the cruise was perfect and we had never been on a ship of this size.
My husband is a paraplegic and uses an electric wheelchair. When I booked the cruise, there were no wheelchair accessible cabins available, but I found an Aqua Theatre Suite with a separate bedroom that I was told would work for us. I even rented an electric recliner so he could have comfortable seating when he wanted to be out of the wheelchair. We brought two caregivers, (his regular nurse and her sister), with us to help us get him up in the morning and to bed at night. I brought everything that I thought he'd need, including portable ramps to get him out on the balcony.
I spent quite a bit of time on several occasions talking to the accessibility department and gave them the measurements of his wheelchair and was given assurances that the doorways of the suite were even wider than the accessible cabins.
