As Platinum Elite members my wife and I have cruised with Princess many times. We have decided that our recent 5 day cruise will be our last with Princess. The cruise line's food quality and serving size has declined substantially in all of the dining areas. Very poor taste and quality, and presentation. The specialty restaurant price has increased 16% from $25 to $29 per person while the meat quality and serving sizes have deteriorated. No additional items such as lobster can be added to one's entree without an additional $29 charge. These prices have crossed the line with us.
For room service, if ordering a pizza, there is a charge of $3 in addition to the service charge and requested tip.
It seems Princess now nickels and dimes the passengers on each and every detail while onboard. This in spite of a $2 billion dollar profit for 2017.
Although smoking is restricted in all but the starboard side and casino, we did observe vaping (electronic cigarettes) in the Crooner's bar. Vaping is just as harmful to one's health as smoking.
For 2018 we cancelled two future cruises on Princess and re-booked with Holland America and Celebrity. No more Princess who has declined to the level of Carnival.
The room steward barely spoke English and struggled to understand our English. He was not knowledgeable on any questions we had concerning our room (i.e. printed tv menu, ice for the bucket, etc.) The room was kept tidy. For a Premium Suite room steward we felt that he could have been more attentive to our needs. We were disappointed in him.
