We embarked on the Equinox in Fort Lauderdale without a problem. Everything is incredibly efficient. My wife and I occupied a very nice suite on Deck 9, overlooking the stern of the ship, a beautiful view indeed from a large balcony.
After one day at sea on our way to Grand Cayman, we noticed a very strong smell in the corridor outside our door. To me, this smelled like sewage. Unfortunately this smell persisted throughout the whole trip, sometimes worse and sometimes a little better, but it never went away. One of the staff told us that this had happened previously also. The smell was so disgusting, I sent an e-mail to Celebrity from the Equinox, but received only an automated response. We also discussed it with Guest Relations, who assured us that they were well aware of the problem ... but it was never fixed. This really took all the pleasure out of having an expensive suite.
The ships specialty restaurants can only be described as FANTASTIC. The food and service were absolutely perfect. This contrasted rather sharply with the bland food in the dining room, and the same buffet every day. The desserts looked beautiful, but were quite tasteless. To have a decent dessert, you needed to go to another deck and pay $5 each. A group of us had a "taste test" with the morning buns. Except for the shape, nobody could identify a taste difference, once any icing was removed.
