The Veendam is a nice ship, great size for comfort and friendliness of cruisers. the staff is great, friendly and helpful.
The chocolate night was fun and there was a nice variety of treats. As usual for Holland America, the food was of a high quality.
However, there is very little to do on board. There are too many "Art Auctions," which are simply sales pitches. I have been to auctions on board before and these were not in that class.Nothing was bid on because all of the reserves were so high.
The cabin was comfortable with a good shower and plenty of storage space
Having been to Cayman before, we simply went downtown to have lunch at the Caribbean Kitchen, which we love, and walk around the waterfront.
I do not like all the shops and fake Mexican ambiance of that area at the end of the dock.
However, we took a taxi to Mahahaul and walked around by ourselves and had some tacos. That was fun.
