We booked 11 months before travel and were really looking forward to this cruise, we have previously cruised with Thomson and P&O and were fully expecting the Princess service, entertainment, food and generally everything to be better than both of these companies. How wrong were we.

Let's start with the good.

The Sapphire Princess is clean, very clean.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BC

The cabin like the rest of the ship was clean but in need of a makeover, the furnishings were needing a deep clean, the floor in the bathroom was a bit tatty and the mirror was marked. We had a bulb out, it was replaced but went again immediately. The fridge was not cold even at its lowest setting.

Not a bad amount of space, very comfy bed. The sheets and bedding again were clean but shabby.

Port Reviews

Singapore

Gardens by the bay including the sky bridge. Excellent.

Singapore

Singapore is beautiful, we were lucky to spend two days in the city before starting our cruise. The day we spent off the ship here was not long enough to see anything unless you had booked a princess trip which enabled you to disembark early!

Kelang (Kuala Lumpur)

Booked a private taxi for the four of us and spent all day with out fab driver.

Batu Caves, KL Tower, Twin Towers and city tour.

Brilliant day.

Nha Trang

Fabulous Pedi Cab ride into the town, sat in the beach with a cocktail then taxi ride round to see the temples and the other main sites.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Booked a private taxi for the four of us and spent all day with out fab driver.

The tunnels were our first stop, spent approx 2/3 hours there then onto a city tour. The driver was really good and careful, everyone on scooters and they all drive like nutters.

Brilliant day, such an experience.

Bangkok (Laem Chabang)

We hired a taxi which was the most expensive of the holiday. It took 2.5 hours to get to Bangkok, sadly it rained all day which wasn't a good start. The Royal Palace and the Temples are beautiful even in the rain, the reclining Buddha is a sight to see for sure, the city is what I expected, busy, dirty and quite an adventure.

It took 5 hours to get back to our ship, the taxi driver got lost and it was quite scary, stuck in the side of the motorway while he tried to get the satnav to work. Driving through towns that ypwe really didn't want to see and ending up in the middle of nowhere.

If our ship had left at its scheduled time we would have been stranded in Bangkok at Laem Chabang port without a passport. Lucky for us our next days stop ha s been cancelled by Princess (Ko Samui) so we were ok.

But beware! not a nice situation to be in.
