We chose the Carnival Vista for our first cruise in almost 10 years because it was the newest, had lots of options to choose from & a new design. I was celebrating my birthday that week which is why we chose 01/07/18. Miami was 60 degrees when we arrived the day before. Cold for them but wonderful to us as our wind chill was 30 below when we left. Embarkation on Sunday was ok- a long line to get inside but everyone was in such a good mood that you didn't mind. Once inside we moved quickly & were on the ship.we are among those that love the new "atrium" the funnel's constantly changing design & colors are beautiful. We had a deluxe ocean view cabin. Usually go balcony but being Jan felt OV would work & it did. Very large window you can sit in, a coach, desk, large tv, 2 baths, one with a tub. My only complaint is if you have 2 baths, give me 2 toilets. We used the one with tub for hanging laundry! Our room Stewart was wonderful, we chose morning service instead of twice daily. We chose our time dining. It's a bit of a pain going to 5th floor to register then going down to either 3 or 4 to dining room but never more than 3 parties ahead of us or more than a 1 minute wait at MDR once there. The service in all dining rooms was excellent 99% of time. Nothing worth complaining about the couple times it was slow. Food went from great to mediocre.not going to join the bandwagon about small portions , if you want a second lobster tail, order it! I feel that the selections were not always great, my entre went uneaten on several occasions. The seafood shack is amazing, a must! Don't order crab sliders though.shows were well done, comedy show was enjoyed. Matt of course was the most talked about by everyone. He is excellent at his job & keeps you smiling . We didn't go to the iMax, never found time but spent hours at serenity my favorite hangout. Another place we found ourselves was near lobby bar listening to music. Can't remember the name of the trio- 2 young women & a man on electronic violins. Couldn't walk away from them! Shore excursions got messed up in Cayman. Seas were rough, water sports canceled, no stingrays & snorkel so we stayed on board. Cozumel was so much fun! We did a land & sea tour. I was worried it might be boring but the guides were informative, friendly & truly love their country. We visited the Mayan chocolate company, learned about culture, went on a submersible boat & was amazed at the coral & fish & finished at a tequila place. Learned why what I've been drinking forever is garbage, how it's made, difference in variety & best of all free shots as well as a mango margarita! We counted 6 free 1/2 shots, all on empty stomach. Smooth & happy. Leaving, we all bought $2 street tacos that tasted like heaven! All in all- a wonderful cruise, lots of fun, can't wait for the next one. Get out there & have fun!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View

Cabin 6M

We had deluxe ocean view, 1260. It is mid ship, near elevators which made getting around easy. A wall separates the elevators from hallway with cabins so no noise from them. Great room lots of room, storage 3 closets, 2 baths. Outlets not a problem.

Port Reviews

Miami

We flew in Fort Lauderdale the day before, very important to make sure you make it on time to embarkation. Plenty of shuttles,we stayed at a hotel with free port shuttle. Lines moved quickly, outside restrooms & water available.
