We chose this cruise line because my mother used to be a travel agent and highly recommended Royal Caribbean. My cousin recently cruised on the Allure of the Seas and said how magnificent it was, so that is why we chose that ship. We went on this cruise for our honeymoon and booked it in months advance. We had an amazing time. The rooms were cozy, and our bed was very comfortable. We had an inside balcony which was perfect. We flew in a couple days before the cruise and stayed at a motel in Fort Lauderdale. It was much cheaper than the chain hotels and was just fine.

It did not take long to get through customs and it never felt claustrophobic on the ship. I wish we knew more about the ship before we got on, we were discovering things on our last day and were bummed we didn't discover them sooner. We didn't really get off the ship at our ports because they were ruined form the hurricanes. You could see many buildings just destroyed and blue tarps as roofs. They also said the ZIKA virus was an alert of level 2! They highly recommended wearing long sleeved shirts and staying in screened in areas. We decided to stay on the ship because it didn't seem right to get off.

A few days after we got off the ship, they charged us an additional $350. I immediately called because this was different than the total on our sea pass account. The person on the line didn't really give me a clear answer to why they overcharged us, but that it would be removed within 7-10 days. We were on our honeymoon, and hardly had any money. Our hotel overcharged us for 6 nights instead of 2. So, with the cruise-line and hotel charges, we were out of $1,100 for the time being. It worried us majorly. It caused a lot of stress and frustration. Although the ship was nice, the experience wasn't as great. Maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal if we were rich, but to us that was unacceptable. I'm relieved to be back home.

Cabin Review

Boardwalk View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin B1

The cabin was spacious and not once did we ever feel cramped. It was just my husband and I. I used the closet and he used the couch for his clothes. The bed was gigantic, the bathroom was bigger than I anticipated. There was lots of storage. Just make sure to bring a pen because there weren't any in the room. The balcony was nice. Our room attendant cleaned our room and made our bed very nicely everyday.

It was very rainy, and smelled horrible. We only stayed in the port for maybe an hour.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Just stayed at our hotel and wandered the beach.

San Juan

We never left the boat because Zika virus was at a high alert and buildings were ruined from hurricane.
