We normally cruise on Celebrity, but chose this cruise to be with friends who have kids under the age of 10. As a childless couple that just turned the 50-year milestone, we were were worried that hundreds of screaming kids would make us want to jump overboard. We were pleasantly surprised. Disney does such a good job of keeping the kids occupied that we barely noticed them. There was a decent-sized adult pool area, as well as several bars which were adults-only after 9pm. These provided a nice escape on those few occasions when we had reached our kid limit.

Overall, this cruise was much more casual than those we have taken on Celebrity. No one really dressed up for dinner, and many wore shorts and tees to dinner. Others dressed up a bit. It was nice to know you could, but didn't have to.

The food is better on Celebrity, which also has more specialty dining choices. We did NOT like Disney's rotational dining at all. I think I should be able to choose where I eat, and with only one specialty restaurant on ship, you are pretty much stuck with their rotational nonsense. We ate in Tiana's Place and Triton's, but skipped Animator's Palate because we had Palo reservations on those nights. Tiana's was very loud with some sort of dancing alligator running thru the restaurant. It was annoying, service was slow (1 hr and 45 min) and the food was meh. However, we enjoyed Triton's and found the service there to be much quicker. We also had brunch and dinner in Palo, which was very good. However, if you are only doing one specialty meal, make it brunch. The selection and quality are amazing, and the service can't be beat.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 04E

Our cabin #6636 was spacious with lots of storage and a nice-sized deck. The bathroom had a small tub with shower, and this was so much roomier than the small shower stalls in the Celebrity balcony and concierge cabins. There was a separate room with a toilet and sink, which was also nice, although that room was very small.

Service in the cabin was top-notch. Ice buckets were provided and refilled daily for the champagne we purchased as a package. We noticed an odd odor one day, and a hepa air filter was delivered minutes after we mentioned this to our steward. The only time we ordered room service, it was delivered within 10 minutes.

Port Reviews

We stayed at the Tremont House, which was lovely. However, beware the rooms that overlook the breakfast atrium as our room was crazy noisy from 630am on.
