This was the second transatlantic cruise for us. This time from Venice to Fort Lauderdale. Last year we crossed the Atlantic on the Costa Favolosa from Savona to Guadaloupe. Both crossings were, for us, very good and fulfilled almost all our expectations.
Embarked in Venice on a cold, rainy day. Took a water taxi from our hotel directly to the ship. Boarding took a bit over an hour, but when 2000 passenger need to get on board, quite normal. You proceed directly to your cabin where the Costa Card - your identity card for the trip and the Diario (newspaper outlining the activities) are waiting. The luggage arrived soon. Three cupboards, two hanging, one with shelves and under the desk five drawers are sufficient. We never used the mini-bar.
The cabin was perfect for us. Would be crowded with 3 or even 4 people. Its location quite forward meant that the only real noise were the waves (with open balcony) or when a large wave hit the bow. Air condition worked perfectly, quiet and easy to regulate. Bathroom: no complaints. Many shelves for toiletries. Good plug (220/110 V) to recharge razor. Good soap dispenser. New good shower curtain - no flooding of bathroom! Mind you, with two kids in the bathroom it might be different.
There is only one receptacle (220/110 V) on the desk for recharging your phones, cameras, ipads etc. As lifelong travellers, we carry adapters and a four-way plug and had never a problem with uncharged devices.
Cabin steward José Hermandez excellent! We usually go early for breakfast - we don't like eating in the cabin - and we put the tag in the door indicating ok to make up room and every day it was done when we returned. José made a second service during dinner time.
