A few learnings on this cruise...
First - it was a last minute "getaway" from cold New England.... I should have paid attention to Weather.com about temperatures, because the first week of January is more like our spring (low 70s in the day, cooler at night) and long sleeve shirts and jackets/sweaters were needed and I didn't bring enough (oh and it rained too!)
Second - I also didn't consider the fact that school vacation was still in place over New Years, and there where way many more children on-board, over 500 I believe, which changes the dynamics of cruising for a couple. The main pool area where many congregate is adjacent to the kids pool, so that area was CRAZY and we stayed away from it - fortunately there are many options.
Cabin was clean. Nice bathroom design. Those new to NCL need to know that your key card goes into the slot as you enter the room to turn on lights. there is a step up into the bathroom you need to be aware of so you don't trip. I only say this since one cruiser new to NCL had a little trip and fall because of this.
The day before the cruise we stayed at the Chateaubleau Hotel in Coral Gables because they had free shuttle pick up from the airport, and free shuttle service to the cruise line.
The hotel was mediocre at best - HOWEVER - the greek restaurant in the hotel was fabulous and were in walking distance to an amazing cuban breakfast place with the best coffee and must have pastries.
On the way back we stayed at night at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami and there weren't complementary shuttle services - but the hotel staff was top notch in terms of service - they allowed us to check in at 10am and we got a late check out when our flight home was delayed.
