We cruised with MSC Sinfonia for the new years cruise in 2016/2017 and we were blown away by the fantastic holiday we had - so much so that whilst still on the boat we booked and paid for the same cruise the following year. The idea at the time was that this would become our December family holiday. Sadly this will not be the case as the experience 2nd time around was nothing short of horrible. Food and the amazing dinning experiences are a key focus on any cruise and this was certainly the case in 2016/2017 but in 2017/2018 the quality, taste, presentation and variety of food have taken a serious nose dive - it was obvious that some serious cost cutting initiatives were put in place and what was left were frozen shrimps where before had been queen prawns, ice berg lettuce topped with toasted bread where before had been a wonderfully prepared Ceaser salad with all the trimmings. Where we had noted a constant presence of security on board in the previous year this year the amount of under aged drinking made it difficult to go anywhere in the latter part of the evening without stumbling over a drunk teenager which the barman were happy to serve under the watchful eye of various MSC senior staff every night. The daily entertainment was a copy and paste of the previous year which made a 2nd trip really unentertaining. I was left with the impression that serious cost saving initiatives have been implemented all around and that the customer experience was completely overlooked.
The Cabin is small but clean and comfortable and was made up quiclly and spotlessly everyday
