Mayan Mystique Cruise Dec. 12-22, 2017 on Oceania Riviera

First of all this is my second voyage with Oceania and on the Riviera. I am very happy to say that it was much better in all categories than my first, so in that respect, it really puts to shame many of the nasty Cruise Critic reviews that I have read over the last few months about this ship. Those reviews put many doubts in my head about what to expect on my second and already booked cruise with Riviera but they completely disappeared because it couldn’t have been better than what I had.

There is no doubt that not everything is or should be perfect because many times it really depends on your personality and how you approach and interact with the staff.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite

Cabin PH2

Our cabin was a Penthouse Suite, # 11011.Very well appointed and of good size. The walk in closet was impressive including a wall mounted shoe rack. I took pictures of it and plan to install one just like it in my walk in at home. Great spacious bathroom and the veranda big and deep enough to be fully enjoyed.

Our Butler, Sydney, from India was the best one of the many I have had on other cruise lines. Absolutely reliable, courteous, attentive, punctual, respectful, etc. His assistant steward Sahuri from Indonesia, though not much in contact with him, when it happened he was always very prompt and courteous. The black sheep of this group unfortunately was the lead steward from St. Petersburg, Russia. I hope she is never assigned to your suite but if it happens, run away from her (if you can) as she is extremely aggressive, insolent, belligerent and unapologetic. I mentioned this to our butler and I already reported her to the HQ of Oceania Customer Service. She should not be interacting with passengers.

Concierge and Executive level passengers have access to the Spa level Terrace with a hot tub and very comfortable reclining chairs and this was a wonderful quiet and relaxing area to take the sun or have a fantastic nap!
