It is the first time we have used Celebrity so weren't quite sure what to expect. As others have said, the boat is older but was very well maintained. The staff without exception were very good indeed and the levels of service were high. Speaking to other people who have cruised with Celebrity before, there were less service staff than normal so those on board did particularly well! Cabin 6080 was spacious and well positioned. The San Marco restaurant was fine and the food selection and quality high if you had a good table. We were on select dining and were fortunate to have the same table for 2 each night. Some of the tables are packed together so we were very lucky. The Sunset Bar for evening drinks and dining outside was often crammed with the food from the grill at the back of the boat being better than the main buffet. We had the Classic drinks package and it was absolutely fine. range of cocktails, Gordon's Gin but not Bombay Sapphire, very drinkable wine (the tip is to get your wine from the smaller bars, not the main pool bars of the sunset grill and you get better quality as they only stock wine for the Elite package but you get it with the Classic package. The entertainment overall was excellent with a talented ship's orchestra and cast and some good visiting acts, Jayne Curry in particular was outstanding. The public areas on board are goaded the theatre seating was excellent. Cleanliness throughout the ship is clearly taken very seriously. Boarding was a little slow in Abu Dhabi but getting off the ship was clockwork. Some good ports of call but sea days were problematic. This was mainly due to the severe lack of sun beds and the crew poolside crew not being concerned that people went down at 7am to bag their sun bed and then didn't use it for hours and hours. Similarly, people would hog the sun beds, go to the outside bar/dining area and hog the tables for hours whilst the sun beds had there towels on. This has put us off using Celebrity again and will probably look to other cruise lines in future. Ridiculously, Deck 4 which could have ben used for sun beds had about a dozen whereas it could have taken a few hundred. Clearly poor planning. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise and made the most of some of the sort calls (e.g. Cuba which we have visited before) to enjoy the ship whilst it was almost empty due to people going on tours.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

Cabin 2B

Very good cabin with loads of space, so much in fact that we didn't use it all. Bathroom was good with an excellent shower. Bed was comfortable and cases easily slipped under the bed. Effective safe and the balcony, whilst not huge was adequate. We were on the Starboard side and fortunately had the sun for three sea days leaving Abu Dhabi. Room service was efficient. the fridge could have been colder but kept the water we had with our Classic drinks package. The view was uninterrupted but directly above the lifeboats so you couldn't look down at the sea but when looking straight ahead there were no obstructions.

Port Reviews

Muscat

We simply took the free shuttle to the gate and walked to the Souk. Turn left out of the port and keep walking straight. It was very interesting and only a 10/15 minutes walk from the boat. It was good to enjoy the boat as it was quiet with all the day trippers being on tours.
