Review of my 3rd ride with RCCL. We rode Enchantment of the seas on a 4 night cruise out of Miami. Overall it was an excellent trip. The wait staff, main dining room food and room attendants were phenomenal, as expected. While the boat is in good shape, it does show signs of age (rusty metal around stairs, worn unpainted areas around decks). Amenities on the boat are good, 4 hot tubs, 3 (REALLY COLD) pools, rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline. We really didn't have time to do everything as we chose a 4 day trip with 3 stops. My few gripes are: 1) We paid a premium for a Junior Suite room, which was on deck 8. It was a nice room with a balcony BUT Deck 9 had a restaurant and pool area with tables and chairs right above our room. Every time someone moved a table or chair above our room the noise went right through and it sounded like we were in a bowling alley. This went on until about 1 am every night. Then at 4 am they washed the deck and moved the chairs around, then at 6 am they arranged all the tables and chairs, then at 6:15 am they did it again! EVERY DAY! Word to the wise bring earplugs if you get a room on deck 8. 2) Another gripe was that the pools were incredibly cold. Only the young kids had the guts to go in and swim. 3) No free internet, even for Crown and Anchor members. You have to pay $70 for the minimal package. I needed only 10 minutes online to confirm our airline flight back home since we were at sea and didn't have 4G in port. The rude guy at the customer service desk said they didn't have any free internet options and that I would have to pay full price even through it was the last day (they charge you for all 4 days if you want to sign up). 4) Price of excursions goes up on board so pre-book if you can. Also many excursions can be booked directly with the vendors on shore for much less. For example we booked parasailing in Key West for $99 pp and later found it online on the vendors site for $58. Nice profit for RCCL!

5) Be sure to bring your allotted 2 bottles of wine on board. They charge $9-$13 for a glass of crappy wine on board. 6)THERE IS NO GOOD BEER ON BOARD. I like IPA's and the beer they serve is crappy lawn mower beer for $8 a pop. 7) Not an RCCL issue but back in port in Miami we rented a car from Budget to spend the day sightseeing. BIG MISTAKE. Don't assume that because they have a shuttle you will get a ride. The driver didn't go to the "Car Rental Shuttle" signage area but instead was loading in drop off areas. Never saw him for over an hour. If you want to rent a car, get it from the airport. The National/Enterprise buses were there every 5-10 minutes, where we waited over an hour. Budget/Avis is the worst here. Go with National/Enterprise.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite with Balcony

Cabin JS

Very noisy due to being right under Solarium pool deck. Every time a table or chair were moved it sounded like a bowling alley above us. This went on most of the night since they served food here till late at night. Then at 6 am the staff moved tables and chairs around to clean. Pick a different room if you are a light sleeper. We spoke with other people on this deck and they said they had noisy rooms too, either too close to the Centrum or under the Windjammer. Best to get a room either far forward or far aft if you want this deck.

Port Reviews

Miami

Don't rent a car from the local Budget or Avis at port of Miami. Rent from the airport and take one of their shuttles. While is seems like it would take more time, they run many many more buses than the local Budget/Avis office.
