Overall we enjoyed our cruise. We selected it based on the time it was running and the ports it visited. This cruise was round trip hong kong visiting 3 ports in Vietnam and 3 in Taiwan.
As others have mentioned the ship is a little tired in areas especially the cabins. We had an ocean view on level 2 mid ship. The furnishings desperately need replacing and the mattress and pillows were very uncomfortable. Other than that the cabin was well laid out and we had plenty of storage. Our room steward wasn't the best we've had often missing one thing or the other when she made up our room. They didn't supply body wash which was a little annoying. We also had an issue with noise from a pump or stabilizers so I think we would look at moving up a level to see if we could avoid that in the future.
We didn't really have any issue with the food being served. We've seen some people comment that the main dining room was lacking in quality but we ate there most evenings and never really had any issues. Our waiter was always willing to correct meals that weren't up to our standards. We lost our wine guy mid cruise so this made getting drinks challenging some evenings. We usually picked up a drink on our way to the dining room to make up for this. We tried to avoid the buffet if possible as it was almost always a zoo and you could never find a table. When we did eat there the food was generally good. Because we had late dining we would go for afternoon tea which was always good.
Take the train into Taipei. 10 minute walk from the boat and runs frequently.
