Emerald Princess – South America 31-days December 3, 2017 to January 3, 2018 Los Angeles to Buenos Aires

Two recently retired couples who are avid ballroom dancers take a cruise to the birthplace of their favorite dance. Mary and Alan [yours truly] with Dante’ and Myrna embark on a pilgrimage to the birthplace of the Milonga and the original sensuous tango. We have had extensive lessons in Standard and American tango, which is very different than the earthy sensuous Argentine variety, and we wanted to learn.

But let’s start earlier. Embarkation was a breeze. We had three luggage and a duffel of Coke Zero. D and M had four luggage, a backpack and a laptop stroller. They were really packed! Well, so were we. Luggage came to the cabin in quick order. We had booked quite late, but Mike got us cabins which we were happy with. We were booked into the very front balcony, Emerald 101, and D and M were booked into Caribe 202, an oceanview. Yes, it is about a quarter-mile walk to the Lido for buffet lunch, but we needed to burn off all the calories we put on with all the yummy desserts. The cabins are standard fare with Princess, and we had to forego the mini-suites as they were sold out. A word to the wise: book early
