Although the Grandeur had a mechanical issue which lengthened our cruise for two extra days, she is still a beautiful ship and we’ve already booked another cruise on her. This was a cruise greatly affected by the weather. We docked first at Charleston, SC where 3-5 inches of snow on the ground pretty much paralyzed the city. We were also unable to get to Coco Cay due to waves which would have made tender operation too dangerous. We ended up spending the night in Nassau and leaving in the evening which gave us 2 days there. On our way back home the ship lost function in part of the steering linkage and we went to Port Canaveral for repairs which took a full day. Passengers who could not stay on the ship for the two extra days were able to get off at Port Canaveral to make arrangements for their return home with the help and some reimbursement from Royal Caribbean. I’ve heard it said that the Grandeur is an old ship with frequent breakdowns but if you look at the repair records for some of the newer bigger ships you will find that they have their share of mechanical problems as well.
