Our group consisted of eight people. Two over fifty, one forty something, three in their mid twenties, one seventeen and one eleven. We flew from Ohio a day in advance and stayed at the Hyatt Regency downtown Miami. The hotel was beautiful and our stay went well. We took two taxis from the hotel to the Port of Miami. We arrived at the Port around ll:30. Although the line seemed long we were on the ship and had our room keys by 12:30. Then we proceeded to the Lido Deck for lunch before the ship left the port. We purchased drink cards for the children and the cost was $38.00 for each. We registered the younger passengers in Club 02 and Camp Carnival. The seventeen year old loved Club 02 and their activities. The eleven year old participated in Camp Carnival but felt that some of their activities were a little "Babyish". The rooms were great. Our room numbers were 6290 (an upgrade for me) and 2257, 226l & 2265 which was a room for the three twenty somethings. All the room on the second floor were right next to each other. Our cruise was Saturday to Saturday so when we woke up on Sunday we were already at Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. As reported by other cruisers, this was the prettiest beach I have ever seen. The sand was soft and clean and you could wade out as far as you would like into the ocean. The ground under the water was quite even and inviting. On the beach you could get a chair without effort. At this port you could hear the Hairy Man's Contest and we saw it on our TV later. This beach was every one's favorite. We tendered back to the ship around 4:00 and had time to shower have dinner. Monday we are at sea and enjoyed viewing all rooms and the casino. Tuesday we arrived in St Thomas where we took a Carnival excursion that was labeled a shopping-sightseeing tour but turned out to be more a shopping excursion. The van picked us up at the ship and immediately dropped us off in the shopping district and told us they would be back for us in two hours. When we were picked up we were taken back to the ship so we could take our items back to the room. We changed into our swimming clothes and got back on the van and we were dropped off at Maegan's Bay for another day at the beach. At this beach you had to rent a chair, so we parked our group in from of the bar which had picnic tables in front. The beach was not a pretty. The sand was dark brown and looked dirty. When we tried to wade out into the water we found it difficult because the ground under the water was nothing but solid rock and you could not get good footing so we just waded out just above our ankles. I might add that it rained while we were getting dressed -- just a half hour during the entire trip even though the weather report said it was going to rain at every port. Wednesday we ended up in San Juan. I had been here before so we decided to walk off the ship and go for ourselves. We were immediately approached by the local vendors and ended up taking a tour for $10.00 a person. The driver was quite informative and took us around and explained the sights and the history of the island. After the tour was over we were dropped off downtown for a little shopping. You could see the ship from here so all you had to do was walk in that direction. Thursday we traveled to Grand Turk to experience their beach. We did not take a Carnival excursion here either but decided to walk around the shops and peak into Margaritaville, where at the time nothing was going on. When we left we heard some commotion coming from their and found out later that they were having a "Booty Shaking" contest. We saw the show the morning we left on our TV. Back in Grand Turk we went to their beach. The beach was a little more inviting. Their were free chair everywhere and when we tried to wade out into the ocean found coral formations under the water that you could clearly see. I personally only waded out up to my waste because you could no longer see the ocean floor. The last day was at sea. When we left Miami it was 65 degrees and the hottest day in San Juan was 89 degrees. The auditorium was very nice but I found it to be cooler if you sat on the main floor. The temperature was more bearable if you sat in the balcony. Since our group was on two different floors, Carnival allowed us to leave the ship last. Once all of us found our luggage we were on our quickly to the airport. I have been on Victory -- a beautiful ship, Freedom was a little gaudy due to all the Statue of Liberty's positioned all over the ship, but Carnival Liberty was just beautiful. Our group loved the pizza, ice cream but I was disappointed with the fish chips. They were not completely cooked and they only gave you two small pieces and some fries. Although we did enjoy the speciality deli sandwiches. Sorry, we did not tried the oriental food. I did not get the opportunity to tried the hot tub, but the children did try the basketball court. Did you know that on the lido deck, near the walking track their is a life size chess board, ping pong table and miniature golf course in addition to the swimming pool and slide area located on the other side of the lido deck. The TV showed movies at night and news during the day. Personally I want to cruise again on Carnival Liberty. The staff in the dining in the Silver Dining room was great and our room was cleaned at least once a day -- although on other cruises our room was cleaned at least twice if not three times a day. Butch cruise director was quite entertaining "All you have to do on this cruise is to eat and poop". The only problems we experienced had nothing to do with the cruise. Half of our group came down after 9:00 pm. They flew into Fort Lauderdale and the shuttle they booked did not come or answer their telephone. So our group took a taxi from Fort Lauderdale to Miami which turned out to be $20.00 cheaper. And the shuttle we booked from our local airport to take us home did not come either. Again, not Carnival's problems. Happy cruising -- you will not be disappointed.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was just perfect. Everything was where is was supposed to be. They did not open our refrigerator, which was okay. The only noise we heard was during the day.
