Just back from the Norwegian Breakaway from New York to the Bahamas. I booked 2 rooms as I was travelling with my mom and 12 year daughter from Vancouver BC. I read the reviews before I left which were not great but I was hoping for the best. It started with us arriving on time and having to wait outside in minus 8 for 20 minutes because they were not ready for baggage. The boat is big and lots of people ( this turned out to be a positive later in the cruise).

Pretty standard for the first 3 days then everything went to hell. We did make it to the private island for 45mins before they evacuated it and put us back onto the tenders. It was rough getting back to the ship and some people were very upset. We immediately left for home. I did not buy WIFI on the boat because I wanted to get away otherwise I maybe would have known the storm was coming. Seas were rough Tuesday and Wednesday. They cancelled shows and events. The captain came on to warn us of rough seas and to keep patio doors shut Wednesday night. That night on the boat was terrifying. Google it! The videos will scare you to death. My experience was staying up all night holding my daughter. The boat was on a tilt . I heard the waves were 30 ft and wind 120km. It was awful and we got a captain announcement which you could only hear from the hallway in the middle of the night saying they were adjusting course. Our room was a mess because everything had fallen on the floor. furniture tipped over.

The next day our room was a mess, the boat was a mess and the seas were still bad. The staff did the best they could. I felt really bad for them too. My mom had to go down to the doctors and she said it was busy with people who had been hurt and who were sick. The communication was terrible and the crew and guest were not prepared for this weather. People were traumatized. We were late getting back into port. I was so happy to see land. All the TV crews were waiting for us to get off.
