We chose this cruise for Christmas and New Year for the ports of calls that we have not visited before. The refurbishment to the ship overall looked good. We had booked a junior suite on deck 8, which was nicely appointed. The Captain, Officers, Crewe and Staff were all efficient, pleasant and helpful. Now the bad points. Most of the ports of call were not what we expected. Many were dirty Port towns which could only be avoided by selecting shore excursions. Inclusive wines and spirits all of very poor quality. Food choice and quality was well below our experience with other cruise lines. Chicken dry, steaks tough, fish over cooked, some vegetables under cooked and tasteless. The New Years dinner was a disaster. Main course took well over an hour to serve and was very poor quality. We tried afternoon tea on two occasions and found sandwiches under hot lamps which made them curled and dry. Scones were hard, jam and cream runny. Entertainment we never found the Broadway theatre more than half full. The show team tried hard but not up to the standard of other ships. We will not be cruising with Marella again.
Overall comfortable, clean well equipped and well serviced.
