We are German citizens and booked NCL because it was the only ship in the Caribbean that fit our schedule. We expected mostly US citizens, but there were many Canadians and Puerto Ricans, no problem.
We booked a balcony cabin (BA), then offered $200 pP for a Mini Suite in the upgrade auction, and won.
Everybody on the ship was great, employees and passengers alike. We mostly had dinner in the Venetian, and breakfast in the Garden Cafe. We liked the concept of being served the meals instead of going to the buffet like on the ships we had been on before. Service was always excellent.
Upgraded to this Mini-Suite 11626 from Balcony (BA with PrivaSea balcony). As mentioned here many times, it is more a larger balcony room than a suite. We knew that and we also knew about the noises from chairs being moved in the Garden Cafe above. The noise was not really a problem, in the room it was not really loud, on the balcony more so. The additional space was very welcome. We also liked the additional room service with extra towel in the evening. Our AC didn´t work well, we mostly slept with open balcony door anyway. There was quite a bit of corrosion on steel beams on the balcony.
Walked to the Botanical Garden which was nice. Book a tour guide! Not much else in this port.
Walked to Carlisle Bay which is a very beautiful beach. Walked all the way to the end and took a bus back.
Taxi to Reduit Beach. Nice beach, good bars and restaurants.
Stayed in town and went shopping. Good selection of quality goods as opposed to some other ports. Nice bar on an upstairs balcony on top of a pharmacy.
Taxi to Fregate Beach. Food and drink seemed a bit improvised, another couple had waited 90 min for food, so we didn`t order. Quite a number of football sized rocks in the water, and quite steep to enter the water.
Mini bus to Magen Beach. The beach is great, but suffered a lot by the hurricanes. They had simple food on sale, and expensive drinks (5$ Carib, 8$ rum punch). Hoping part of the money is used for beach build up, we bought beers and rented chairs anyway.
